Director General (Statistics) Manuela Lenk
Manuela Lenk holds a university degree in Sociology and began her career at Statistics Austria in 2004 in the field of household budget surveys. She later served as the head of the Census and Business Register Division and went on to head the Department for Registers, Classifications and Geoinformation from 2017 until mid-2019.
Manuela Lenk then moved to Switzerland, where she served as Vice Director, Member of the Executive Board and Head of the Interoperability and Registers Division at the Federal Statistical Office. In this role, she established the office as a data steward at the request of the Swiss Federal Council, established the interoperability platform as the central data directory of Switzerland, and led various interministerial and cantonal committees. She also represented Switzerland in numerous international bodies, including Eurostat, the OECD, and the United Nations.
Director General (Finance) Franz Haslauer
Since January 2024, Franz Haslauer is the Director General of Statistics Austria responsible for the commercial management. Previously, from 2016, he was the sole managing director of the Österreichische Mensen Betriebsgesellschaft, for which he had been a member of the supervisory board since 2012. His focus in this position was on strategy development, quality management and digitalisation. Previously, as a partner and managing director of a consulting company, Haslauer advised and supported public institutions in tourism and healthcare in their further development for fifteen years. Further stages in his professional career included managing the Wigast Group in Austria and Germany and the position as Chief Financial Officer at Semperit Holding, for which he also worked in Paris and Thailand.
Franz Haslauer studied law in Salzburg. He then completed a degree in economics at the University of Vienna and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He gained his first professional experience at Raiffeisen Zentralbank.
