Operating output
Austrian based railway operating companies and integrated railway companies showed an operating output of 73.3 billion gross ton kilometres (gtkm; the sum of the deadweight of the train incl. the tractive vehicle and the payload multiplied by the distance) in the 2010 calendar year. About 28.5 and 44.8 billion gtkm were related to passenger trains and freight trains respectively. Moreover 1.3 billion wagon-kilometres were performed, whereof 0.4 billion referred to passenger wagons. About 33% (0.3 billion wagon-kilometres) concerned empty freight wagons. The average utilisation of all freight wagons was about 60%.
