General Aviation

The available data concerning general aviation can be regarded as a valuable completion of the picture of the aviation sector dominated clearly by commercial services. In addition, information about the operational output of related infrastructure facilities can also be derived from the figures.

In the area of non-scheduled commercial engine powered flights 64 540 reported flight movements (take-offs and landings) were counted in 2010, which meant a decline compared to the previous year (2009: 67 304). Also the number of movements decreased in non-scheduled, non-commercial engine powered flights from 505 664 in 2009 to 452 254 (-53 410 flights or -10.6%) in 2010. Compared to 2009, gliding flights decreased by 7.7% or 6 422 take-offs resulting in a total of 76 988 in 2010.

In operative and transport performances in non-commercial aviation there was a reduction with 91 306 (-5 282 or -5.5%) flying hours and also the landings decreased to 206 642 (-13.266 or -6.0%).
