Population in private households. - Referring to the definition of "foreign background" see "Recommandations for the 2010 censuses of population and housing" of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE, see www.unece.org/stats/documents/2010.00.htm). - According to this definition foreign background means that both parents are born abroad. This group can be divided into migrants of the first (born abroad) and the second generation (born in Austria; children of first generation). - 1) "Austria" means that at least one parent is born in Austria; the country of birth of the mother is used, if mother and father were born in different foreign countries.
