Prices, taxes
Surveys conducted by Statistics Austria, such as Material Input Statistics and the consumer price index (CPI), constitute an important pool of data for Austria’s international reporting obligations to the International Energy Agency (IEA). They form the basis for the energy price index that is calculated and published by the IEA. In addition to Statistics Austria, other institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth (transport fuels) and E-Control Ltd (natural gas and electric power) collect data on prices and taxes (energy taxes, emergency stock fees) for international price reporting to Eurostat and the IEA.
