According to Statistics Austria, the vegetable production
2011 increased by 19% to 703 700 tons compared with 2010. In regard to
the average production of the last five years an increase of 26% was
noted. The area of vegetables cultivated for fruit was enlarged which caused a
production-plus of 15% to 144 700 tons. In particular sweetcorn, tomatoes
and cucumbers brought high quantities. Leafy and stalked vegetables including brassicas showed a rise
