Accidents

In 2020, a total of 64 air accidents were registered in Austria, which means an increase by 14.3% compared to the previous year (2019: 56 accidents). The majority of air accidents occurred with hanging-/paragliders and parachutes. In 2020, 53 accidents were counted in this sector (2019: 31) whereof three were serious (2019: 4). Regarding accidents with other aircrafts 10 out of 11 accidents were related to general aviation (2019: 18 out of 25 accidents); in other aviation was one accident (2019: 4) and in commercial aviation were no accidents registered (2019: 3) reported. In 2020, two serious accidents (2019: 3) with two dead persons (2019: 6) were counted in general aviation. In commercial aviation and other aviation no serious accident was registered in 2020 (2019: no serious accident).
