Vienna, 2019-04-26 – In the current winter season 2018/19 (November 2018 to March 2019), 64.59 million nights spent and 17.58 million arrivals were registered in Austria's accommodation establishments, according to preliminary data by Statistics Austria. The highest relative rise was registered for commercial holiday dwellings (+3.5%) whilst the number of nights spent in private accommodation establishments decreased by 5.5% in the current winter season.

Decline of nights spent in March 2019 because of Easter holiday shifting

In March 2019, the number of nights spent decreased by 3.8% to 14.93 million. This negative result was mainly caused by the shift of the Easter holidays into April this year.

The number of nights spent in the current calendar year 2019 (January to March) decreased by 2.4% to 47.95 million, the one of arrivals by 0.8% to 11.82 million.
