Turnover in industry and construction increased by 10.1% in January and February 2019

Vienna, 2019-05-31 – A total of 65 756 enterprises in the entire industry and construction sector (+0.7% compared to the previous year) turned over €47.4 bn (+10.1%) in the reporting period January and February 2019, according to calculations by Statistics Austria. Working-day adjusted, the turnover for industry and construction increased by 10.5%. These figures coupled with increasing employment (949 278 persons, +3.6%).

At establishment level (66 333 establishments, +0.6%), production sold increased by 10.0% (working-day adjusted: +10.4%) in comparison to previous year's level and amounted to €46.9 bn in nominal terms (employing 948 456 persons, +3.7%). Industrial production sold increased by 10.0%.

35 891 Austrian construction establishments (+1.1%) achieved a production sold of €5.7 bn in the reporting period January and February 2019. This corresponds to an increase of 10.5% in nominal terms (working-day adjusted: +10.7%) compared to the previous year.

At the end of February 2019, Austrian construction companies (not including construction auxiliary trades) had orders booked totalling about €16.4 bn (+20.6% year-over-year).
