This publication contains comprehensive data on population, employment and unemployment from the section of the Austrian Micro census that covers the European Labour Force Survey, with the data relating to the annual average for 2007. The survey has been conducted since early 2004 as an ongoing survey throughout the year.

Employment and unemployment are the key topics in this publication. In addition, the entire population is shown according to demographic, educational and employment criteria. Gender, age, marital status, citizenship, immigration, highest academic qualification, current training, membership of business organisations, profession and professional standing as well as a series of other employment characteristics (such as job tenure, length of contract, special forms of working hours, secondary activity) are thus documented at both federal and provincial level. Furthermore, comprehensive data is provided on working hours as well as on various aspects of unemployment such as duration, type of job search methods, etc. An extensive introduction explains the survey methods and presents the most important conclusions of the main results. Around twenty tables of time-series data show the changes in the Austrian population and economy since 1974.

In order to ensure compatibility with the EU, the publication presents the labour force potential according to, in particular, the Labour Force Concept. Alongside these results, however, results are also presented according to the subsistence concept.

This publication is available in German only but contains an English summary and English headings for tables.
