Health risks at work: nine out of ten employed persons are at risk

Vienna, 2021-12-20 – Around 3.7 million employed persons were exposed to at least one physical and/or mental risk factor at work, which corresponds to around 86% of all employed persons. This is the result of a survey conducted as part of the Microcensus Labor Force Survey by Statistics Austria in 2020. Eight out of ten employed persons reported at least one physical risk factor, and around 60% complained of at least one mental risk. Around 13% of all (formerly) employed persons also reported a work-related health problem. 3.5% of all persons economically active stated that they had had at least one accident at work in the year prior to the survey.
