Retail with turnover increase in the first three quarters of 2021; services sector stagnates

Vienna, 2021-12-03 – In the first three quarters of 2021, turnover of Austrian service enterprises increased by 0.3% in nominal terms compared to the same period of the previous year, as Statistics Austria reports. Turnover in trade increased by 11.2% in nominal terms. Taking inflation into account, sales in trade rose by 5.6% compared to the period January to September 2020.

When making comparisons with the same period of the previous year, it should be taken into account that a large number of businesses in 2020 and 2021 were affected to varying degrees by closures and other restrictions due to the measures against the Corona pandemic.
