– In the period January to September 2021, the turnover of Austrian
retail trade (excluding motor vehicle retailing, including gas stations)
increased by 4.9% in nominal terms and by 3.4% in real terms compared
to the same period of the previous year, as Statistics Austria reports
on the basis of preliminary results. With 228 shopping days, the first
nine months of 2021 had one sales day more than the corresponding period
of the previous year, but the actual number of selling days varied in
the period January to September 2021 as well as in the comparative period
2020 due to lockdown-related temporary shop closures.
