Provisional number of new passenger car registrations in August 2010: +10.4%

Vienna, 2010-09-01 – According to provisional results, 24 754 new passenger cars were registered in August 2010, representing an increase of 10.4% in comparison to August 2009. The increase in August 2009 amounted to 22.6% compared to August 2008.

From January to August 2010, the number of new passenger car registrations increased (223 406; +1.0% in comparison with the same time period of the previous year).

Methodical information, definitions: Starting with the reference month August 2009 Statistics Austria is publishing the provisional number of new passenger car registrations as an additional service on the 1st working day of the following month. The data are compiled on the basis of daily data files sent to Statistics Austria by the Austrian Insurance Association (VVO). These data are not checked regarding plausibility and completeness. 
More detailed as well as the final data on new motor vehicle registrations will be published on September 9, 2010.
