Vienna, 2010-08-27 – At the beginning of 2010, a new law on registered partnership for same-sex couples came into force in Austria. In the first half of the year, 429 couples officially registered their partnership, according to provisional numbers reported by Statistics Austria. About two thirds (67.4%) of them were male couples. Half of the partnerships (50.1%) were registered in Vienna.
