Chicken production slightly increased in 2009
Vienna, 4 February 2010 – In 2009, 70.3 million chickens
were slaughtered in Austria, this is 6.7% higher than in the previous
year. In the same period the volume of chicken meat increased by 5.9%

| Methodical information, definitions: The survey is conducted every month in all poultry abattoirs that slaughtered at least 5 000 units in the previous year and in all poultry hatcheries with a minimum laying capacity of 1 000 hatching eggs. Information on turkey, geese, ducks and guinea fowl production will not be published for reasons of data protection. |
