Vienna, 29 January 2010 – According to calculations by Statistics Austria, the 12 132 enterprises (+4.7% compared with the previous year) in the entire industries and construction sector turned over a total of EUR 17.3 bn (-16.1%) in October 2009 coupled with a decreasing employment (766 537, -4.2%).

At establishment level too, production sold in the industries sector (employing 565 411 persons, -6.0%) was below the previous year’s level and amounted to EUR 14.4 bn (-17.9%) in nominal terms. In construction, production sold stood at EUR 2.9 bn (-4.4%).
