First half 2009: turnover in retail trade was on previous year’s level – turnover for wholesale trade and services fell
Vienna, 3 September 2009 – Based on results for the first half 2009 the Austrian turnover in retail trade at nominal values increased by 0.6%. Sales fell by 0.6%, compared to the first half 2008. The food sector with an increase of 1.9% at nominal values and a slight decrease of sales by 0.3% was responsible for this result.
Turnover at nominal values in wholesale trade decreased 12.0%. Turnover in services fell by 8.4%.
