Vienna, 25 January 2010 – According to the latest available data from Statistics Austria, the overnight stays in Austrian accommodation establishments in the calendar year 2009 closed with a result of 124.25 million (-1,9%). The overnight stays of domestic visitors increased by 1.6% to a new record mark of 34.43 million. The number of foreign overnight stays declined by 3.3% to 89.82 million. The number of total arrivals decreased by 1.0% to 32.30 million, despite a rise of domestic guest numbers by 2.6% to 10.96 million (foreign visitors: -2.7% to 21.34 million).
