Vienna, 13 February 2009 – The annual average value of the index of agreed minimum wages 06 (basis: 2006 annual average = 100) increased by 3.0% in 2008 in comparison to the previous year. This is the highest annual increase since 1995 (1995: 3.5%). Compared to the average values of 2008, minimum wages for blue collar workers rose by 3.2%, for white collar workers by 3.1% and for civil servants by 2.7%.
