Online shopping is booming in Austria

Vienna, 2011-10-18 – The results of the survey "ICT usage in households 2011" by Statistics Austria show that 2.8 Mio. Persons living in Austria aged between 16 and 74 years have already bought goods or services via the Internet during the twelve months prior to the survey (45% of the Austrian population). Compared to 2003, this is an increase of 34 percentage points. The most popular product groups for Internet shoppers were clothes and sporting goods, holiday accommodation or other travel arrangements as well as books, magazines and newspapers.

72% of the Austrian households used a broadband connection to access the Internet. In 2003, only 10% of the households used such a connection. Three out of four households (75%) have access to the Internet.
