Consumer Inflation in May 2010: 1.9 %

Vienna, 2010-06-16 – The annual inflation rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measured by Statistics Austria was 1.9% in May 2010, slightly lower than the previous months (2.0% in April and March). This overall inflation figure has been mainly influenced by increasing prices for mineral oil products (+21%). Without this increase, the inflation in May would have been +1.0%.

The annual inflation rate in terms of the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) was 1.7% in May 2010 (April and March: 1.8%), reaching the index level of 109.63 (2005=100).
