Vienna, 2010-06-16
– The annual inflation rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measured
by Statistics Austria was 1.9% in May 2010, slightly lower than the
previous months (2.0% in April and March). This overall inflation figure
has been mainly influenced by increasing prices for mineral oil products
(+21%). Without this increase, the inflation in May would have been
+1.0%.
The annual inflation rate in terms of the harmonized
index of consumer prices (HICP) was 1.7% in May 2010 (April and March:
1.8%), reaching the index level of 109.63 (2005=100).
