Inflation remains at +2.0 % in April 2010

Vienna, 18 May 2010 – The annual inflation rate of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) measured by Statistics Austria was +2.0% in April 2010 after +2.0% in March and +1.0% in February. As in the previous months the inflation was mainly influenced by rising fuel and heating oil prices (+23%). Without these the inflation would have been +1.1%.

The annual inflation rate in terms of the harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP) was 1.8% in April 2010 (1.8% March, 0.9% in February) arriving at the index level of 109.69 (2005=100).
