Form of password

A good password has 4 to 8 digits and consists of an arbitrary combination of alphanumeric signs (A-Z, 0-9) as well as the special characters #, $, § (upper and lower case not considered). The first figure has to be a letter.

It must be noted, too, that four subsequent passwords must be different as the system "remembers" the last four password.

The password has expired

On principle, you may change your password any time, after 3 month you have to place a new password.

After having entered a new valid password please click on to OK.

Change password

On logging in, please highlight the control box change password in the window "Login" and click on OK. The window "Change password" opens.

After having entered a new password please continue by clicking on OK. If the new password does not correspond to the above guidelines the following note draws your attention to this fact:

 

Access to system was blocked

In the following, potential reasons as well as available options are listed:   

You have logged in as guest user

If you want to get an overview of the graphical user interface of the ISIS Database you may log in as a guest user.

You have logged in using your own user ID

If you have not made a login for more than three months or if you have entered the wrong password three times your user ID is blocked and, on opening the graphical user interface, the following window appeares:

Access disconnected

Your access has been disconnected, which may have the following reasons:

 

You have not exchanged data with the server of Statistics Austria for more than an hour.

Accress is disconnected by the server of Statistics Austria after a full hour no data transfer between client an server.

Other cases of no data transfer are to build a new query or to edit a query using ISIS data only which have already been (temporarily) stored within the cache memory of your workstation.

To prevent disconnection, please store your query after each change; this procedure automatically produces data transfer.

 

Unintentional disconnection after less than one hour

In our experience, an unintentional dischonnection after less than an hour or during work in the graphical user inteface is mainly due to a network component facility between your workplace and the server of Statistics Austria.

 

 

Possible causes of an unintentional disconnection may be

Timeout settings of the company firewall, the proxy server or of the internet provider are too short. Please contact your network administrator.

In the given order, the graphical user interface tries to build an access for valid internet adresses please see FAQs.

If no HTTP access is possible and if a SOCKS server (SOCKS V4 and SOCKS V5 are supported) is available we recommend using this kind of access instead of clearing firewall ports. Continue by configurating the SOCKS server in the following manner:

  • No authentification of access
  • Timeout of one hour or more
  • Moreover, please enter for once the SOCKS server address and the SOCKS server port into options >> starting from the window "Login" of the graphical user interface.
